Solar Plexus ( Manipura)

This is the 3rd chakra and the one people are having g the most need of strengthening lately.
It’s the element of fire (solar means sun) thus the color is yellow. It is above the Dantien and below the Heart. It’s the ‘gut’ where if it is hit, physically, one loses their breathe.
IT will be easy to remember that with the sun comes sight so sight is the sense of this chakra.
The solar (manipura) chakra rules the organs in the lower rib cage. This is the pancreas, liver, gall bladder, stomach, spleen, digestive system (large and small intestine but not the colon or anus or rectum. Remember that belongs to the root chakra). Also the autonomic nervous system. This system regulates the breathe, and B/P. Going back to the chakra, it also helps the lower back muscles.
As it is the color, yellow, so yellow’s the gem stone that will enhance and support this area: citrine, amber, tiger’s eye, and yellow sapphire and yellow topaz.
The scents are a little harder to remember and I have yet to get a pneumonic with them. They are bergamot, lavender, sage, rosemary and carnation; all Shakespearean scents if that means anything.
Emotionally and ethereally this chakra promotes personal power and social identity. IT strengthens self authority and self control, will, personal energy, inner harmony, a sense of identity. It promotes increase self esteem, gives strength and vitality spurring action and radiance. This mantra here is “I CAN”. You can use this as a mantra affirmation as “I CAN accept myself completely. I can do anything I set my mind to do. I can enhance my spiritual being to increase radiance and joy. I can feel my personal power grow stronger everyday.” Or,” I can clean my room today.” IT works. Try it!

EMOTIONS of the Chakra

Emotions = water. This chakra really represent emotions and thus relationships, life and the nature of life. Many people close to nature usually are intuitive and psychic. We all seek a love in life, but for these people it can appear as emotional extremes such as elation and can lead to over –indulgence of food, drink or drugs. IT can mean Mania and depression or emotional bliss. The + side is that people of the water chakra are so creative and are often poets and musicians. They’ re often gifted healers and excel in medicine. They are usually, as stated, empathic and psychic or at least intuitive. They are the creative beings that must be balanced to keep from falling into a hole of saddens or self pity. They need to get away or distance themselves from people from time to time to heal and re-group their strength.

The astrology sign that are water signs are Scorpio, Pisces, Cancer. Cancer is the ultimate water ( Sacral) sign) . Their mantra is that of this affirmation of the Sacral chakra; “ I believe”. Scorpio is “ I create” and Pisces, ever the optimist, “ I believe.” Each sign needs to be aware, and cannot say it enough, that they need to meditate and spend time away from people.

Practicing Reiki

Reiki is a relaxing, healing and can be a spiritual experience. Here I am working with my father. We have been able to release some negative energy to allow his right hand to quick shaking so that he can hold a fork more comfortably.

Enhancing the Sacral ( Swadihistana)

The Sacral chakra , or Dantien, is the power source of creative energy. In martial arts, it provides the place of chi energy flow for everything from kicks to a still place for meditation.This is a potent chakra. As we said in the previous blog, the chakra manages the hips, bladder and kidneys et al. In Chinese Qi qong and TCM the kidney is the source of the vital chi which is the energy inherited from your parents. This is the reserve that is used when the body is under stress.Looking at the last blog, we introduced the sacral chakra and if you found yourself attracted to all that information, this may be your favorite or most used power source.Are you emotional , enthusiastic? Are you sensual? Is your idea of an ideal vacation to spend time in nature as along as there is a spa around? Do you go ‘camping’ at one of the fine state park hotels?Then this might be your chakra energy source.How to enhance and replenish it?Again we go back to our tried and true enhancements: color, gem energy, scent and affirming meditation. OF course, going to an energy healer such as a reiki master or an acupuncturist is very helpful and healing. For those who are still looking for these masters or just don’t have the time to fit in a healing session, here are some ways of enhancing the chakra.This chakra’s color is orange, so wear this as a power color ( it is quite in vogue) .Use the scents of ylang-ylang, gardenia and sandalwood. Use perfume , candles or the flowers themselves to enhance and inspire that chakra.Jewelry and gem stones should contain orange such as orange carnelian, orange coral. Gold enhances the chakra while the moonstone cleanse.This element is water so emotion is the element while taste is the sense. The affirmation would be “ I Feel.” ( no surprise). You could use the affirmation like , “ I FEEL an enthusiasm in my relationship” , ‘ I FEEL desirous and in touch with my creative centers”, “ I FEEL my sexuality is in tune with my Higher Natural Elements”, or “ I FEEL pretty”.

The Sacral or Dantein Chakra

This is the 2nd chakra of the body. This is the seat of creativity and sexual potency. Creativity always is best when balanced by the Spiritual. In Tai Chi, Qi Qong and Kungfu, this is the source of energy where one pulls the energy to make kicks and punches. In tai chi, and zen meditation, this is the seat of awareness and inner energy; of inner knowing. Its element is water and its sense if taste. ( Think of it as one tasting the waters of emotional life). It controls the organs located in the pelvis region such as the sex organs & their fluid potency, the hips, and the kidneys and bladder. It balances the yin/yang ( female/male) energies. In Traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM) the kidneys are the seat of vital energy, meaning that this is where you get your inherited resilience and life energies. This is a vital organ to support especially for men and the maintenance of potency as the get older. The quality of the Sacral chakra is the basic primal feelings . This chakra is sensuous, desiring, desirable and sexual. It is the basis of the feeling of pleasure. Being basic, it is attuned with nature and nature's power to be creative and expressive. Personalities of this sort welcome sexual expressions and procreation. They take pleasure in relationships and are enthusiastic.The color orange is assigned to this chakra. Thus the gem stones that enhance and support this area can be orange carnelian and orange coral. Gold calcite will enhance it and moonstone will cleanse . Scents that apply to this chakra are Ylang-Ylang, sandalwood and gardenia. No surprise these are water loving plants. This is a water chakra. Are you attracted to any of the above; the color, the Scents the gems? You might have a Sacral personality. You enjoy sex and will welcome children. Your idea of roughing it is to experience nature as long as a spa or a massage is near. You want to taste deeply the cup of life's emotions and find out all life has to offer.

The Element is Earth

As we discussed in the Root chakra, the element is Earth. .Earth element is seen in astrology. Virgo ( August 21- Sept 21), Taurus ( April 21- may 21) and Capricorn ( Dec 21- Jan 21) are all Earth element signs. They are the manifestors; the shakers and the movers. They make it happen and if it don't work they kick it to the side. IF they can't use it , they kick it to the side. It they can't analyze a purpose for it , they kick it to the side. They , therefore , have great legs.Seriously, Virgos analyze everything to death in a way to see what will serve them for their purpose. Taurus, the ultimate Earth element is one who is the personification of the 'I HAVE' mantra. Capricorns use things to get their manifestations accomplished. They all like the material world and are concerned for their health, esp bone and joints.This earth sign makes those who are manifestors and the health nuts. Both the Magician and the hypochondriac. They would rather stay at home for their vacation or go on day trips ( saves money). They may smoke, then make everyone crazy with their fear of illness and then stop suddenly while asking if they should work out 10 times a week.

ENHANCING THE ROOT

In my last blog, we discussed the Root Chakra, its element ( earth) and its sense ( smell), its mantra ( " I have"). If you were attracted to the affirmations and are wondering how to enhance this, here are some ideas. ( Virgos Capricorns, and Taurains will be attracted to this esp as they are earth signs themselves. Taurus is about as earth as you can go.)One can use scents such as cedar, cloves and pepper. They are cloying and earthy. You can go to BODY AND BATH WORKS on line and type in one of the above, including pepper. The site will check on all the notes of their various lines and come up with a cologne that has one of those scents as part of the notes to the cologne. One can wear the color RED. This is esp a great color esp if you are the above mentioned sign. It can be seen as a power color. I am talking RED here, not a dark pink. but beware: red is stimulating and energizing. It is a shaker and a mover. If you are pone to anger then this may not be the color choice to you. At least tone it down with white. IF a person has an angry disposition, then there is no good in inflaming self more. Avoid anger! Seek peace!Meanwhile, gemstones that are root-enhancing are bloodstone and agate. Hematite is a black stone but very good for cleansing. Ruby is an obvious choice. You can get these on line, at jewelry stores and some at Natural History Museums. People enjoy tumbled stones as the energy is easier to pick up And they just feel good. Fate Magazine has offers for good prices.Mediate on the mantra. Remember the Universal law of Attraction... Pray as IF YOU HAVE IT ALREADY. Your mantra is " I HAVE'. An example might be , " I have security. I have a firm belief in my abilities. " " I have a rooted attachment to life."Try it and see!
